Causes and Cure of Hepatitis B

Hepatitis B is considered to be an infection of the liver. This kind of infection could lead to the scarring of the organ, liver failure, and even cancer. This infection is fatal and the same requires immediate medical attention. The spread of this infection could be when people come in contact with the open sores, blood or even body fluids of the person who has hepatitis B virus in his body.
This infection is serious. Although the treatment of hepatitis B is possible as any other alcoholic liver disease treatment, it is unlikely to go away if you get it at birth.

Causes of hepatitis B:
Hepatitis B is the result of an infection caused in the body by the hepatitis B virus. HBV is found in the bodily fluids and blood of a person. Thus, this virus could be transmitted in the body of another person by the way of vaginal fluids, semen, and blood. It can also pass from a mother to a new-born baby during the time of delivery. Other reasons such as sharing needles and having unprotected sex could also lead to the spread of this infection to another person.

Treatment:
Just like alcoholic liver disease treatment, the treatment of hepatitis B is possible. Anyone who has unprotected exposure to the potentially infected blood or body fluid of another person can go for a post-exposure prophylaxis protocol as a part of the treatment. This treatment comprises of HBV vaccination as well as HBIG which is given after the exposure and before the development of acute infection in the body.

The treatment of chronic HBV vaccination includes an antiviral medication. This is not a cure in a real sense, however, it can help to stop the virus from replicating, and thereby preventing the progression into advanced liver disease. Furthermore, it is always suggested to take all the preventive measures to save yourself from the development of HBV in the body.
