Liver Failure: Symptoms And Causes

Liver failure is a critical condition that needs urgent medical attention. In this condition, the liver stops functioning gradually. In acute failure, the liver stops functioning fast and is a life-threatening disease.

Types Of Liver Failure

Liver failure is of two types and they are acute liver failure and chronic liver failure. The acute condition happens within a short time and people with this condition do not get any liver disease generally. Whereas, in chronic liver failure, the damage is done over time due to a particular disease

Symptoms Of Liver Failure Causes

Some of the early signs and symptoms of this condition are as follows:
  • Nausea
  • Fatigue
  • Diarrhea
  • Loss of appetite

As the liver conditions get worse the symptoms become more serious and prominent.

Causes Of Liver Failure

There could be several reasons that may lead to liver failure. These are:
  • Overdose of acetaminophen may damage your liver over time that leads to liver failure.
  • Hepatitis A, B and E virus if left untreated cause liver failure.
  • Some people get a liver failure from reactions to certain medicines. Chemical compositions of certain medicines may damage the liver functions and kill cells in your liver.
  • Autoimmune hepatitis is another condition that attacks the liver system and leads to acute liver failure rapidly.
  • Wilson’s disease is a type of genetic disease that resisted the body to remove copper. This coper gets deposited in the liver and eventually damages it.
  • Nonalcoholic fatty liver may cause liver failure that happens if the person becomes obese or has high cholesterol and triglyceride.
  • Prolonged alcohol addiction leads to liver damage.

Early diagnosis is the best way to prevent liver failure. Along with that, one must lead a healthy lifestyle to maintain healthy liver functions.
